My Story

In January 2023 I found out I had a skin condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). I had no idea what was to come and little did I know my life was about to be flipped upside down. My skin was red raw, burning and constantly severely itchy. The itch was so intense that I had to break the skin to satisfy the sensation. Spring of 2023 it eased off and I was so happy in myself that it was all over. In September 2023 I was getting rashes on my upper back and TSW didn’t even cross my mind as I thought it was all over. The rashes had spread and the symptoms were back! I started to read a lot into this condition and it left me feeling very deflated as you can go through many phases. This phase ended July 2024. I was back to my happy self and praying that it was all over. Nope! October 2024 Phase 3 started, I scratched my eyelids, upper lip and chin and opened it all up again. It is currently December 2024 and I struggle to stop itching and pick at the scabs. It’s a vicious circle. Through the whole of my journey when I went to sleep I would tie gloves, socks or oven gloves to my hands to stop me breaking my skin but I was still managing to hurt myself as I’d scratch so hard that I was making holes in the ends of the material and the friction burn was horrible. I also tried out the silicone finger protectors but they always fell off in the night, nothing was helping at all! From March 2024 to now (December24) I have had wounds on both my hands/wrist that I have been struggling to heal but they are finally getting smaller and smaller. October23 - October24 my ears were oozing day in day out so I guess you could say I didn’t really have clear days/months.
